Glimpse into the future

Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo are getting married!? I did think they were dating when the first rumour associated picture surfaced but then I didn’t really care because I didn’t really care about their Descendant of the Sun characters so it left my mind. Married!? It’s surprising they would do this at the peak of his career. This won’t stop his star power but it’s still surprising for Koreans.

Look at Kwang-soo’s face

I heard that Lee Kwang-soo couldn’t keep a straight face when the MC was asking them (dating?) questions. For those who watch Running Man though it’s super easy to tell what that expression means. Where’s the jealousy bro? I am assuming this is Joong-ki’s poker face too – his eyes are suspiciously blank.

I can see it in his eyes but not hers

I know I haven’t written up a Descendants of the Sun post but I was really disappointed in the drama. I had really high expectations and they weren’t met. Although the drama sparked a craze I have met a few people with my opinion so I know it wasn’t just me. The pace was too choppy and quick to impact my feelings. While people were in love with them as a couple but as someone else described – they did not have chemistry, what you are feeling is just Song Joong-ki.

They really like to fist bump don’t they? Cuties.

So I had to look up their ages. He’s 31 and she’s 35. Cute little age gap with him being younger. I guess she’s getting on in age for the baby-making…? Isn’t that how Korean celebrities usually do it. Although I don’t think so with this couple. They’re just cutely and perfectly in love. But this is not shown in the drama, just outside the drama.

Look at all the photographic evidence! They really do look like a couple in love. No wonder they are stalked by rumours. I wouldn’t really classify them as hiding a relationship. Clearly I’ve never Googled ‘Song-Song couple’ before now.

Reasons for watching: I saw some super cute pictures and gifs accompanied by a lot of positive comments

Reasons to keep watching: The feels! I don’t remember the last time I got so invested in the characters themselves rather than the story or what’s happening to them. This means I replayed the cute scenes 10 times rather than just 3. It helped that my internet was slow so I had to keep buffering but if it was a bad drama that would just piss me off… more than it did.

Re-watch: I will! I don’t know when but I will! Edit: They started dating after the drama (were friends since modelling days though)❣❣❣ I NEED to watch it again now!

Politics IRL

Have you heard what’s going on with the South Korean President Park Geun-hye? It’s sounds like a drama. It could legitimately be a drama. For some reason You’re All Surrounded particularly comes to mind but I don’t remember the drama well enough to put the comparison into words (besides – spoilers).

Update: She’s been impeached and may go to jail like all her other conspirators including “the de facto head of Samsung.” I don’t know what that means but my conspiracy theory is that the exploding Note 7’s came about because they were being lazy with safety laws due to paying off the president. Or it’s just a coincidence.

If you don’t I’ll give you the story off the top of my head. Keep track of all the people involved.

Best of 2016 Dramas

…that I have watched anyway.

The drama world was much better this year! So many dramas are still on my ‘to watch’ list! Although I have struggled to finish even the good ones but I want to! I’ll get around to it eventually… hopefully…

Side note: Who writes up the wiki pages? Do they even watch the dramas? Why do they put the male as the lead when it’s the female etc.Read More »

Recommended: If you even remotely like mysteries. This was raved about even though it wasn’t a romance drama, that never happens.

Reason for watching: My husband was making me watch Buzzfeed unsolved murders so I was in the mood for a bit of detective work and remembered Signal was raved about.

Reasons to keep watching: The intrigue! Everyday my husband, who does not watch any tv with me ever, would ask ‘Signal? Can we watch Signal?’ It’s that good.

Re-watch: No, I can’t really watch mystery shows again, I already know the answers.Read More »
